(Ruxandra Cesereanu)

When writing I must keep to where I’ve been hurt the most inside – otherwise, what good would writing be? (Herta Müller)

* * *

Herta Müller’s literature is made of deep layers and nuances. A puzzle with its own enigmatic dimension, with its challenges and its questionings – this could be the appropriate description of this collective volume dedicated to the Nobel laureate writer, who is herself a complicated being, sometimes harsh and severe, at other times poetic and delicate, but always willing to speak the truth bluntly and to confront reality head on. (Ruxandra Cesereanu)
